Senior Counsel, Real Estate, Land Use, & Siting

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire, United States; hybrid schedule with work from home up to two days per week as business circumstances and workload permit. Periodic travel may be required for meetings and regulatory hearings in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.

Annual salary: $176,930–$196,590, commensurate with experience; potential incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Provide legal support on real estate, land use, environmental, siting, and transactional matters.
• Support the acquisition, modification, and disposition of real estate rights.
• Negotiate agreements related to utility operations, assets, capital projects, and real estate holdings.
• Review titles and negotiate and enforce easements, rights of way, leases, licenses, encroachments, options, and purchase and sale agreements.
• Collaborate with in-house counsel, business clients, management, and outside counsel.
• Attend meetings and hearings before federal, state, and local regulatory agencies when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor degree.
• At least five years of experience in a law firm, government agency, corporate law department, or equivalent energy or utility-related experience.
• Knowledge of and experience with real estate, land use, transactional matters, title reviews, and property rights agreements.
• Excellent written and oral communication, legal research, organization, and collaboration skills.
• Admission to practice in New Hampshire is preferred; admission in another state in good standing will be considered.
• Visa or immigration-related sponsorship is not available; applicants must already have authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Utility, energy industry, or siting experience.
• Experience with environmental law, litigation, data and cybersecurity issues, or emerging AI technology.
