TL;DR
Counsel Legal & Business Affairs- Litigation (Entertainment): Managing litigation, pre-litigation matters, internal investigations, and legal briefing for a live entertainment company with an accent on strategic case analysis, discovery, subpoenas, and claim assessment. Focus on drafting motions and discovery responses, analyzing evidence, coordinating investigations, and monitoring developments across multiple assignments.

Location: New York City, NY; onsite

Salary: $175,000–$195,000 USD annually

What you will do

  • Review new lawsuits and help develop litigation strategies, including counterclaims, motions to dismiss, venue, and personal jurisdiction arguments.
  • Draft, review, and edit briefing throughout litigation, from motions to dismiss and discovery motions to dispositive motions.
  • Assess potential claims, develop facts, interview employees, coordinate with stakeholders, and analyze documents and evidence.
  • Support subpoena analysis, document and video collection, discovery responses, government inquiries, and internal investigations.
  • Monitor and report litigation developments, manage legal spend, and track case developments with senior litigation leadership.
  • Contribute to Legal Department and company-wide projects while maintaining professional presentation standards onsite.

Requirements

  • JD from a top accredited law school.
  • 4+ years of sophisticated litigation experience at a law firm, government agency, or in-house legal department.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, strategic-thinking, and judgment skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and briefing tasks independently and collaboratively under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Experience with e-discovery platforms.
  • Member of the New York Bar or registered with New York's Appellate Division as in-house counsel.
