Operator (Dredging)

What you will do

• Operate heavy equipment used in site and highway construction, including graders, bulldozers, pumps, shovels, tractors, and loaders.
• Excavate, move, and grade earth and support construction activities.
• Perform equipment inspections and preventive maintenance, reporting defects and repair needs.
• Identify exposed underground and overhead utilities and review trenching protection requirements before excavation.
• Follow company, OSHA, orientation, and training safety procedures and communicate operational issues to site leadership.
• Assist with training entry-level employees on maintenance and repair duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and 6–12 months of construction equipment operating experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles, hazards, and safety precautions.
• OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR are required.
• Ability to read grade stakes and/or site plans and apply practical mathematical concepts.
• Clear oral and written communication skills and the ability to follow and transmit instructions.
• Must be at least 18, pass a drug and alcohol screening, and be willing to join the union or take the necessary steps to join.
