Senior Underwriter / Account Executive Officer - Commercial Accounts / Middle Market Underwriter

Location: Walnut Creek, California, United States; regular in-person meetings with agents and brokers and travel required.

Annual base salary: $109,300–$180,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned commercial insurance book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts across property, general liability, commercial auto, workers’ compensation, and umbrella coverage.
• Partner with agents, brokers, internal business units, and enterprise stakeholders to develop sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Market and sell hirify.global products through regular meetings with external partners and travel to customer-related meetings.
• Identify new business opportunities and execute agency and regional sales plans with the Managing Director.
• Support training and mentoring for less experienced Account Executives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least four years of experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial work, sales, product, or finance.
• Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience, including commercial lines experience, preferred for the target level.
• Deep knowledge of commercial lines products, regulatory requirements, and the local insurance market.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• CPCU designation.
