Safety Specialist (Environmental Health and Safety)

Location: Portland, Oregon, USA; work includes outdoor industrial settings and travel up to 50% domestically and internationally

Salary: $70,000–$90,000 per year

What you will do

• Standardize HSE practices and drive continuous improvement across teams.
• Provide HSE support to refineries, chemical plants, power plants, and testing facilities.
• Inspect workplaces and audit written programs for compliance with local, state, and OSHA requirements.
• Investigate incidents, document findings, and develop corrective actions with local teams.
• Track HSE KPIs, action items, driver safety dashboards, driver lists, and asset lists.
• Develop safety communications, posters, toolbox talks, newsletters, and training modules.

Requirements

• Degree in Safety, Environmental, or a related field is required.
• 1–5 years of relevant safety work experience is required.
• Knowledge of federal and state OSHA requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related business applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required; ability to work at industrial sites, climb ladders and elevated platforms, wear a respirator, and navigate uneven surfaces.

Nice to have

• Experience in stack testing.
• Health or industrial hygiene experience.
• Hands-on training experience.
• OSHA 30-hour training.
