Software Engineering Manager

Location: Hybrid from the Austin, Texas office; work involves managing distributed teams across multiple geographies and time zones.

What you will do

• Build and lead the Software Engineering function within the Global Engineering Organization, including team structure, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
• Manage engineering capacity and delivery across SourceCore, NLP, mobile and computer vision, legacy PHP, and other internal platforms.
• Establish engineering standards covering coding practices, code reviews, quality, documentation, release readiness, and production support.
• Own execution discipline through capacity planning, delivery tracking, dependency management, risk escalation, and reporting.
• Define software ownership for L3 support, defect resolution, root cause analysis, technical debt reduction, and backup coverage.
• Collaborate with the CTO, Product and Delivery, QA, DevOps, DBA, Infrastructure, Security, Team Leads, and Architects to reduce production risk.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on software development before moving into management.
• 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, preferably distributed across locations or time zones.
• Experience building or scaling teams through hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance feedback, and organizational development.
• Practical understanding of backend, frontend, APIs, databases, integrations, testing, CI/CD, and release processes.
• Experience managing business-critical production systems, including incident response, root cause analysis, post-release stabilization, and maintenance of legacy systems.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar planning, tracking, and reporting tools, plus the ability to communicate engineering risks and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with .NET, Microsoft enterprise environments, and SQL Server-backed business applications.
• Experience with ERP, internal platforms, warehouse applications, operations systems, or B2B transaction platforms.
• Familiarity with mobile development, NLP, computer vision, AI/ML use cases, cloud platforms, infrastructure-as-code, Git workflows, and automated testing.
• Background in electronic components, technology distribution, supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, or similar B2B environments.
