Software Engineering Manager (Automotive)

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates residing within 50 miles of Dearborn, Michigan are expected to work onsite up to 4 days per week. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $132,800–$250,800 annual salary, Leadership Level 6.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, hire, and develop a multidisciplinary team of approximately 5–10 software engineers.
• Partner with product managers, designers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to define and deliver customer outcomes.
• Shape technical strategy, architecture, system design, API design, and cross-team technical decisions.
• Build platforms and experiences supporting hirify.global and Lincoln apps, dealer-facing tools, and in-vehicle surfaces.
• Own operational health, including observability, incident response, performance, reliability, and production support.
• Improve software delivery through automation, testing, continuous delivery, and fast feedback.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years directly managing software engineers.
• Experience hiring, developing, and leading effective engineering teams.
• Strong technical judgment and experience building and operating complex software systems at scale.
• Experience leading significant technical initiatives across multiple teams and organizational boundaries.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

• Experience building platforms or shared capabilities used by multiple product teams.
• Strong product and design instincts for solving complex customer problems.
• Experience leading distributed teams across locations or time zones.
