Underwriter - Hull & War

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office and two days at home

What you will do

• Manage new business and renewals across a broad Hull & War portfolio within a growing Marine account.
• Support profitability, growth, retention, and consistency across the assigned line of business.
• Assess, quote, price, and process risks, endorsements, and related reporting in accordance with company and Lloyd’s standards.
• Research target business, competitors, industry conditions, economic factors, market developments, and world affairs to identify new opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with agents, brokers, and customers in the Lloyd’s market.
• Provide guidance, mentoring, and coaching to colleagues where appropriate.

Requirements

• Previous London Market insurance experience in an underwriting or broker capacity.
• Experience in Hull and War underwriting.
• Basic understanding of internal and external factors affecting the Lloyd’s market.
• Technical proficiency appropriate to underwriting authority, including sound quoting and pricing judgment.
• Intermediate judgment, decision-making, communication, teamwork, relationship management, analytical thinking, and financial acumen.
• Secondary-level education or equivalent; expected to be studying toward the ACII qualification.
