Tax Filing & Payments Associate (Payroll)

Location: Remote within the United States; office locations include New York City and San Francisco.

Salary: $65,875–$75,875 annual for remote U.S. employees; $77,500–$87,500 annual for NYC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle locations. Equity is offered.

What you will do

• Own tax filing and payment activities for a defined set of jurisdictions and employers.
• Prepare accounts, complete original filings, and monitor failed or late payments.
• Progress toward handling late originals and amendments independently.
• Balance tax accounts, reconcile discrepancies, and investigate root causes with Payroll Operations, R&D, and Revenue.
• Document process friction and changes in filing specifications so others can act on them.
• Use AI and internal tooling to improve speed and accuracy while managing deadlines and service-level expectations.

Requirements

• 1–2+ years of experience in operations, compliance, payroll, or a related regulated or customer-facing function.
• Ability to learn new systems, tools, and subject matter quickly.
• Comfort owning defined work, escalating issues early, and operating with some ambiguity.
• Strong written communication and ability to identify and clearly document problems.
• Curiosity about AI and internal tooling, with willingness to incorporate AI into daily work.
• Authorization to work in the United States is required.
