Secondary School SPED Instructional Assistant

Location: Delano, California, USA. Onsite classroom-based role, Monday–Friday, 7:45 a.m.–4:15 p.m.

Salary: $20.80–$28.20 per hour, depending on skills and experience.

What you will do

• Partner with lead teachers to support students in general and special education settings.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group instruction, interventions, and support for behavioral, medical, and academic needs.
• Supervise students before, during, and after school, including lunch, recess, and possible bus or van duties.
• Communicate with families, attend community events, and support the school’s college-going mission.
• Assist with clerical, administrative, translation, IEP-related, and special education compliance activities.
• Provide first aid and necessary physical assistance, including toileting, diapering, and medication administration under established procedures.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience working with school-aged children, especially students with special needs.
• Ability to implement standards-based lessons, conduct assessments, monitor progress, and maintain accurate records.
• Familiarity with or ability to learn IEP documentation, special education reporting software, RTI, co-teaching, collaboration, and small-group instruction.
• Training or familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis and de-escalation strategies.
• First Aid and/or CPR certification when required; substitute permit and CPI certification are preferred.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Substitute Permit.
• Bilingual Spanish and English proficiency.
• Experience with Siras or similar special education reporting software.
• CPI certification.
