Software Engineer (COBOL)

Location: Dearborn, Michigan, United States; hybrid with a requirement to be onsite four or more days per week

What you will do

• Develop and maintain retail and lease securitization products and Next Generation Securitization solutions.
• Work with global securitization partners and the Product Manager to translate product vision into engineering backlogs and user stories.
• Deliver application development, enhancements, corrections, and production support within an autonomous Product Driven Organization team.
• Analyze and resolve issues in securitization applications and design solutions based on business and technical requirements.
• Develop and execute unit test plans and scripts, manage technical risk, and balance delivery speed with solution quality.
• Provide rotational on-call support, lead assignments with minimal direction, and apply AI-based tools to automate workflows and legacy code analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 13+ years of experience with COBOL, JCL, CA7, DB2/SQL, IBM File Manager, and debugger tools.
• At least 1 year of experience with hirify.global Credit securitization systems.
• Experience applying AI-based tools to automate workflows, plus business systems analysis, process documentation, and workflow optimization.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
• Availability for a hybrid schedule with onsite work four or more days per week is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Agile methodology, Product Driven Organization practices, and Jira or a similar tool.
• Advanced SQL and relational database experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, innovation, multitasking, and independent-work skills.
