Technical Underwriting Analyst (Insurance)

Location: Remote position with expected on-site presence for collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership. Candidates should be comfortable working Central or Eastern Time business hours.

Salary: $70,000–$100,000 base compensation annually.

What you will do

• Serve as an insurance subject matter resource for Vave's wholesale and E&S underwriting workflows.
• Analyze underwriting and operational processes to identify inefficiencies, pain points, and improvement opportunities.
• Translate business needs into platform enhancements and practical solutions with underwriting, product, analytics, and technology teams.
• Investigate complex platform, workflow, and insurance issues and coordinate resolution across internal teams.
• Support the development, testing, implementation, onboarding, and adoption of Vave products and platform capabilities.
• Evaluate platform usage, underwriting activity, partner feedback, and operational trends to improve efficiency and partner experience.

Requirements

• Required experience in wholesale insurance, excess and surplus lines, an MGA, insurance carrier, underwriting organization, or underwriting operations.
• Strong understanding of commercial insurance workflows and the roles of MGAs, wholesalers, brokers, carriers, capacity providers, and insureds.
• Experience analyzing insurance processes, underwriting workflows, operational challenges, or insurance products and recommending improvements.
• Ability to translate complex insurance problems and business needs into clear requirements, recommendations, or solutions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and prioritization skills.
• Bachelor's degree is beneficial; insurance designations, underwriting education, technical certifications, or additional industry training are also beneficial.

Nice to have

• Experience in technical underwriting, underwriting operations, insurance product, underwriting analysis, or a related function.
• Experience with wholesale or E&S insurance products.
• Experience with insurance portals, underwriting platforms, policy administration systems, technology implementations, product enhancements, workflow improvements, or user acceptance testing.
• Familiarity with APIs, SQL, data analysis, or other technical concepts.
