Senior Mechanical Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Location: Hamburg, Germany; preferred work locations are Hamburg or Siegen, Germany.

What you will do

• Own complex mechanical components, assemblies, and subsystems from concept through manufacturing, assembly, and validation.
• Develop robust mechanical designs for high-precision scientific and industrial equipment.
• Create SolidWorks parts, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
• Perform tolerance analysis and define fits, interfaces, geometric tolerances, and dimensional requirements.
• Translate system requirements into manufacturable mechanical solutions and coordinate manufacturing requirements with suppliers and Procurement.
• Develop and test prototypes and contribute to design reviews and technical decisions.

Requirements

• BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
• Advanced professional proficiency in SolidWorks is mandatory, including experience with complex assemblies and technical drawings.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials, tolerance analysis, GD&T, DfM/DfA, structural design, and mechanical interfaces.
• Experience designing complex mechanical assemblies, bespoke machinery, or technically demanding systems.
• Right to work in Germany is required.

Nice to have

• CSWP certification.
• Experience in scientific instrumentation, semiconductor equipment, aerospace, precision engineering, special-purpose machinery, optics, or similar industries.
• Exposure to high-precision, vacuum, cryogenic, thermal, optical, or vibration-sensitive systems.
• Practical understanding of component manufacturing, assembly, testing, and servicing.
