Senior Software Engineer (Radar)

Location: Remote, with candidates required to be located in the San Francisco Bay Area or Denver, CO area. Active US TS/SCI clearance and periodic SCIF access are required.

Salary: Up to $194,700 base salary, plus bonus, stock options, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop full-stack software for mission-critical space and defense initiatives, particularly US Department of Defense and Intelligence Community contracts.
• Build and operate distributed backend services, high-volume data pipelines, APIs, and user interfaces.
• Support orbit maintenance, object tracking, customer analytics, radar network tasking, and AI/ML model training workflows.
• Translate stakeholder and customer needs into engineering requirements and participate in design discussions.
• Ensure reliability, observability, security, and performance across production systems.
• Own services through the full development lifecycle, including deployment, monitoring, operations, and on-call support.

Requirements

• Active US TS/SCI clearance and experience delivering missions for DoD/IC customers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience building cloud-based systems at scale.
• Experience building, deploying, and operating distributed backend services using Python, Go, or a similar language.
• Knowledge of architecture patterns, service boundaries, message-driven workflows, API design, cloud environments, and containerized deployments.
• Experience with relational databases, message brokers, observability, CI/CD, and on-call operations.

Nice to have

• Production frontend development with TypeScript, JavaScript, or comparable web technologies.
• Experience deploying into US federal systems and using Kubernetes in cloud environments.
• Background in mathematics, physics, AI/ML, or orbital mechanics.
• Experience operating high-availability or mission-critical systems.
