Director Internal AI Governance (AI)

Salary: USD 110,000–195,000 yearly

What you will do

• Define and maintain the enterprise framework, policies, standards, decision rights, and accountability for internally used AI.
• Govern AI investments and use cases by evaluating business cases, lifecycle costs, measurable outcomes, adoption, performance, and risk.
• Develop responsible AI principles and controls covering privacy, intellectual property, cybersecurity, bias, explainability, human oversight, retention, and regulatory obligations.
• Establish technology and architecture guardrails for AI models, platforms, data access, identity, permissions, APIs, logging, monitoring, and production deployment.
• Define due diligence and governance standards for AI capabilities embedded in third-party products and services.
• Lead governance forums, escalation paths, reporting, education, playbooks, and the development of a high-performing governance capability.

Requirements

• 15+ years of leadership experience in technology governance, enterprise technology, AI, risk, cybersecurity, data governance, or digital transformation.
• Experience establishing or operating enterprise governance frameworks in a large, complex, global organization.
• Strong understanding of generative AI, machine learning, enterprise AI platforms, AI-enabled applications, and agentic technologies.
• Knowledge of AI-related privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, bias, model risk, data leakage, regulatory, and third-party risks.
• Experience partnering with Legal, Privacy, Security, Finance, Procurement, Technology, and senior business leadership.
• Exceptional executive communication, influencing, stakeholder-management, and decision-making skills.

Nice to have

• Experience establishing an enterprise Responsible AI or AI Governance program.
• Experience governing generative AI platforms, copilots, large language models, or autonomous AI agents.
• Familiarity with emerging AI regulations and recognized AI risk-management standards.
• Experience with large-scale cloud, data, security, technology, or transformation portfolios.
