Salary: $115,900-$152,100 per year

What you will do

• Evaluate formal and informal life insurance applications across all underwriting aspects.
• Assess medical history, physical condition, occupational hazards, and financial backgrounds to accept, modify, or decline risks.
• Deliver best-offer-first underwriting decisions to support sales and business placement.
• Provide consultations to third-party firms, advisors, brokers, and distribution partners on rates, discrepancies, and risk concerns.
• Explain underwriting decisions to customers and facilitate placement of business.
• Champion process improvements while maintaining mortality expectations and strengthening underwriting practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 5 years of life insurance underwriting experience.
• Life insurance underwriting authority of at least $5 million.
• Expertise in medical, non-medical, and financial risk selection, underwriting guidelines, product rules, and medical factors affecting mortality.
• Experience underwriting both term and permanent life insurance; reinsurance or agency, brokerage, bank, or wire house experience is beneficial.
• Strong critical thinking, data-driven problem solving, verbal and written communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of underwriting experience.
• $10 million or more in life insurance underwriting authority.
• Industry designations such as FMLI, FALU, CLU, or ChFC.
