Academic Advisor II (Evergreen)

Location: Prairie View, Texas, United States; travel required, with work beyond normal office hours and/or on weekends.

What you will do

• Advise assigned students individually and in groups on course selection, registration, academic planning, career goals, educational goals, university transition, and retention.
• Monitor academic progress and implement interventions for students receiving academic alerts or needing support to improve their academic standing.
• Provide targeted advising, proactive referrals, reminders, and tailored communications through email, texting, and social media.
• Use EAB Navigate to identify targeted student populations requiring intensive advising.
• Coordinate advising projects, events, outreach, and student interventions while promoting belonging and student development.
• Collaborate with university partners on student recruitment, success, retention, research, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
• At least two years of related experience in advising and recruiting.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, student information, degree planning, and degree audit applications.
• Ability to multitask, collaborate, present information clearly, and work with sensitive information while maintaining FERPA confidentiality.
• Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Employment is contingent on credential verification and a criminal history background check.
