What you will do

• Lead the development and maintenance of academic advising standards across the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
• Oversee advising centers, supervise lead advisors, and guide daily advising operations.
• Support hiring, training, professional development, and funding for academic advising staff.
• Track advising objectives, student load, retention, graduation, and other student-success outcomes.
• Develop intervention strategies and collaborate with college leadership and campus support offices.
• Oversee new student conferences, review readmission applications, advise students, and teach a First Year Experience course section when appropriate.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in agriculture or life sciences, student affairs, higher education, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of related higher-education experience, including at least 3 years in academic advising, academic programs, and student support programs.
• Experience with undergraduate and graduate student populations.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Clear communication, collaboration, relationship-building, multitasking, and team-oriented skills.
• Ability to work with academic records, admissions, registrar, and financial aid functions.

Nice to have

• Five years of academic advising experience and three years of supervisory experience.
• Experience with Education Advisory Board’s Navigate system and the university COMPASS system.
• Project management software proficiency, data analysis skills, and professional academic writing experience.
• Knowledge of student recruitment, admission, retention, and graduation processes.
