Senior Payments Specialist (Fintech)

Location: City of London, United Kingdom; hybrid work with three days in the office

What you will do

• Maintain, document, and continuously improve payment processes covering deposits, withdrawals, reconciliations, client verification, and payment investigations.
• Support internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, risk assessments, and payment operations control activities.
• Define and report on operational KPIs and service levels, including processing times, success rates, reconciliation breaks, transaction costs, and fraud losses.
• Build dashboards and management information, analyse performance trends, and drive corrective action.
• Monitor fraud and operational risk, investigate incidents, perform quality reviews, and implement preventative measures.
• Partner with technology and product teams to automate manual work, improve tooling, and support new payment methods, providers, and products.

Requirements

• Substantial experience in payment operations within financial services or another regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of deposits, withdrawals, reconciliations, verification, and payment investigations.
• Experience supporting audits and owning or remediating operational controls.
• Strong analytical and data skills, including experience with performance metrics, reporting, and business-intelligence tools.
• Experience delivering process improvements and, ideally, automation or transformation initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
