TL;DR
Summer 2027 Software Engineering Intern (AI) (Python/TypeScript/Java/Go/Rust/C++): Building production software for the Nuclear Operating System, including regulatory, cost and schedule, supply chain, commercial portal, and field deployment modules with an accent on AI-powered features, data integrations, and automated compliance infrastructure. Focus on building LLM- and agent-backed tools, integrating Palantir Foundry and AWS GovCloud, and delivering audit-ready software for nuclear construction teams.

Location: Washington, DC; on-site five days a week. Housing and relocation are provided for interns outside the DC metro area. The posting describes a 12-week Summer 2027 internship from May to August, while the requirements also refer to a full six-month term.

Starting rate: $25.00 per hour, plus a $2,000 monthly housing stipend.

Company

hirify.global is an AI-focused startup developing software for fleet-scale nuclear reactor construction and energy infrastructure.

What you will do

  • Build features and full modules for the Nuclear Operating System across regulatory automation, cost and schedule, supply chain, and commercial portal workflows.
  • Develop AI-powered features using LLMs, agents, retrieval-augmented generation, and tool-calling against internal systems.
  • Develop data integrations across Palantir Foundry, AWS GovCloud, and other platforms.
  • Turn build-a-thon prototypes into production-grade features and create field deployment tooling.
  • Build automated testing and compliance infrastructure, triage issues, and identify root causes of failures.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a BS program in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related technical field, and returning to school afterward.
  • Strong programming fundamentals in at least one of Python, TypeScript, Java, Go, Rust, or C++.
  • Evidence of shipping working software through coursework, personal projects, internships, or co-ops.
  • U.S. Person status is required because the role involves technology subject to U.S. export controls; visa sponsorship is not provided.
  • Must be willing and able to work on-site in Washington, DC, five days a week.

Nice to have

  • Experience with LLM APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, agents, or tool-calling.
  • Coursework or project experience with Palantir Foundry, AWS, or another enterprise cloud platform.
  • Familiarity with algorithms, data structures, cloud infrastructure, and modern front-end frameworks.
  • Interest in energy, national security, industrial software, regulated industries, or nuclear engineering.

Culture & Benefits

  • AI-first working environment centered on automation, decision-making, and the Nuclear Operating System.
  • Collaboration with software engineers and nuclear experts on production software used by reactor construction teams.
  • Full housing and relocation support for interns outside the DC metro area.
  • 401k with company match, medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • Generous vacation policy and holidays.
