Laboratory Analyst - VOC

Location: Onsite at the Denver, Colorado laboratory, USA

Salary: $22.00–$26.00 per hour, based on experience, skills, and geographic location.

What you will do

• Analyze solvent extracts for semi-volatile organic pollutants using GC-MS.
• Review analytical data, perform analyst and QC reviews, and assemble reports.
• Prepare standards and maintain reagents and laboratory supply inventories.
• Calibrate, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot analytical instruments.
• Review QA/QC criteria for batch acceptance and follow standard operating procedures.
• Mentor Lab Technicians and Analyst I colleagues while supporting efficiency initiatives.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in science.
• 2+ years of GC-MS experience in an environmental laboratory.
• Experience using laboratory equipment such as balances, pipettes, bottle-top dispensers, hot blocks, and volumetric or graduated glassware.
• Knowledge of analytical methods, instruments, general laboratory practices, and laboratory safety.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, multitasking, independent decision-making, and teamwork skills.
• Availability for a Sunday–Wednesday schedule from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with flexibility for Saturdays and overtime when needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with Agilent hardware and ChemStation or MassHunter software.
• Hands-on analytical instrument maintenance experience.
• Experience with Varian Archon Purge and Trap Autosamplers or Xylem/OI Analytical Sample Concentrators.
