TL;DR
Project Engineer II (Energy Efficiency): Reviewing commercial and industrial energy-efficiency projects, validating savings calculations, and managing project pipelines with an accent on building systems, technical documentation, and client-facing program delivery. Focus on analyzing HVAC and other energy conservation measures, coordinating inspections, managing schedules and budgets, and addressing project risks.

Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey, United States; up to 15% local/regional travel for site visits and customer meetings.

Salary: USD $82,409.60–$92,000.00 per year, with potential eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

  • Review commercial and industrial energy-efficiency applications, technical submittals, calculations, and assumptions.
  • Manage project pipelines, milestones, documentation, schedules, deliverables, and budgets.
  • Prepare technical reports covering project scope, methodologies, findings, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate inspections and project reviews with engineering and inspection teams.
  • Support customers, contractors, and Trade Allies with energy-savings calculations, program requirements, tools, and standards.
  • Develop and deliver training content and webinars while escalating risks to the Program Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, or related Engineering.
  • At least 6 years of experience in energy analysis, technical report writing, engineering review, or program administration.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, energy systems, building science, and high-performance design.
  • Experience with spreadsheet-based energy calculations and custom analysis tools.
  • Experience reviewing energy conservation measure recommendations and savings calculations for HVAC, motors, lighting, controls, refrigeration, building envelope, and appliances.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE and IECC energy codes and standards, plus strong project management and communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Professional Engineer, Engineer in Training, Certified Energy Manager, or Building Energy Modeling Professional credentials.
  • Experience explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences and delivering training.
