Multimedia Journalist

Location: Sacramento, California, United States; 100% onsite

Salary: $57,500–$61,500 per year

What you will do

• Generate story ideas, investigate local issues, conduct interviews, and develop enterprise and sweeps stories.
• Gather information, shoot video, write, edit, and report assigned stories from start to finish.
• Present fair, accurate, objective stories live on-air, online, and on mobile platforms.
• Create video, images, and information for digital and social media channels.
• Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, government officials, legislators, city officials, and news sources.
• Coordinate with producers, assignment editors, and managers on story development, field progress, and breaking news.

Requirements

• Complete fluency in English and Spanish, with superior written and spoken Spanish skills.
• At least two years of experience as a television reporter.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong writing, storytelling, and live reporting skills.
• Experience with newsroom computer systems and applications; iNews knowledge required.
• Functional to advanced knowledge of field cameras, production equipment, and editing systems; valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Knowledge of digital social media.
