Director, Data Engineering (Sales, Customer, & Distribution Lead)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States

Annual base salary: $139,400–$230,000, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Lead the Sales, Customer, and Distribution Data Engineering team in designing and building end-to-end data solutions and ML pipelines.
• Oversee feature engineering, data preparation, model training, testing, deployment, and productionization.
• Integrate models with production systems and APIs, including monitoring and alerting frameworks.
• Establish data validation, versioning, governance, automation, and scalable implementation practices.
• Develop analytic data products, pilots, proofs of concept, roadmaps, and enterprise data strategies.
• Coach data engineers, establish team processes, and collaborate with Data Scientists, BI Engineering, DAVS, Architecture, and business partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related STEM field, or equivalent education and work experience.
• At least 6 additional years of data engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of management experience and 2 years of insurance industry experience.
• At least 3 years of experience with AWS Cloud Services, Python, and Databricks.
• At least 2 years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Proficiency in SQL, data governance frameworks, data tools, cloud platforms, programming languages, communication, and stakeholder management.
