Senior Data Engineer (Databricks)

Location: New York office, four days per week

Salary: USD 150,000–180,000 per year

What you will do

• Manage Databricks instances, including dataset onboarding, permissions, security, and governance.
• Build centralized automated pipelines that ingest data from multiple sources and external APIs into the data warehouse.
• Develop automated data refresh, validation, monitoring, and quality processes.
• Manage reporting and organization-wide data requests while serving as the central data contact.
• Collaborate on data policy and governance and ensure reliable data availability for end users.
• Work with financial data, including trade, reference, and position data, to build calculation modules, reports, and dashboards.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience managing Databricks and working with integrated Azure services.
• 3+ years of experience with object-oriented programming in Python.
• Strong experience with data pipelines, security, governance, Change Data Capture (CDC), and data quality troubleshooting.
• Experience deploying production-ready data assets, using Git-based workflows and CI/CD, and designing monitoring and validation frameworks.
• Proficiency in database design, optimization, performance tuning, normalization, and compression techniques.
• Ability to work independently, communicate with business users, and operate effectively with ambiguous requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with agentic coding assistants.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools.
• Familiarity with Tableau and Sigma.
