Communication Engineering Intern

Location: Merrillville, Indiana; candidates must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location.

Salary: $18.80–$31.70

What you will do

• Support engineering staff with projects addressing electric and gas utility facility needs.
• Evaluate, design, estimate, and assist with project management for facilities of varying complexity.
• Collect and analyze data and review engineering records.
• Create job order sketches using AutoCAD.
• Perform field measurements and assemble data for job order estimates.
• Follow safety requirements and support emergency response activities when needed.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in an accredited four-year ABET engineering program with at least one year of undergraduate study completed.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week during the 12-week summer program starting in May 2027.
• Proficiency with PC applications; strong AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Access skills are preferred for the role.
• Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Fiber optics or communications experience.
