Director Finance (Life Insurance)

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States; hybrid with in-office attendance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays

Salary: $159,000–$211,000 annually, plus potential annual bonus

What you will do

• Lead quarterly financial reporting and close processes for the Life product line across IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and capital reporting frameworks.
• Analyze and communicate financial performance, trends, risks, emerging issues, and key business drivers.
• Partner with Actuarial, FP&A, Capital Management, Investments, business units, and Finance teams.
• Provide finance leadership and subject-matter expertise for business initiatives, accounting changes, reporting changes, and enterprise priorities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals while managing priorities and resources.
• Own SOX processes, resolve reporting errors and control deficiencies, and improve reporting, analytics, data, and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience.
• At least 12 years of accounting or finance experience, including eight years of management experience.
• Extensive knowledge of the assigned business area and strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, and financial business systems.
• Ability to work in the Cedar Rapids hybrid arrangement with in-office attendance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Nice to have

• CPA certification and/or an advanced degree.
• Experience in life insurance or financial services.
• Experience with insurance financial reporting, including IFRS and/or U.S. GAAP.
• Experience partnering with actuarial and finance functions to analyze financial results and capital performance.
