Director, Financial Accounting & Reporting

Location: Chicago, IL; hybrid schedule with at least one day per week in the office. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $154,200–$192,750 base salary annually, with potential bonus and/or equity eligibility depending on role and level.

What you will do

• Lead the Accounting and SEC Reporting teams and manage a team of five.
• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and oversee accurate US GAAP financial statements.
• Oversee SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
• Lead technical accounting research and documentation for revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, leases, business combinations, and complex transactions.
• Drive accounting and reporting workstreams for M&A due diligence, acquired-business integration, and ERP system migration.
• Maintain SOX internal controls, develop accounting policies, and mentor accounting team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA certification required.
• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including 3+ years of SEC reporting at a US-listed company.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SOX internal controls, and revenue recognition for complex transactions.
• Experience with financial systems; proficiency with SEC reporting tools such as Workiva is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, project leadership, Excel, Google Suite, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Big Four public accounting experience combined with corporate accounting experience.
• Experience with Workiva.
