Deputy Athletic Director

Location: Texarkana, Texas, United States; onsite athletics administration with in-person event, camp, and campus duties

What you will do

• Lead, develop, implement, and monitor the comprehensive NCAA Division II athletics compliance program.
• Advise coaches and staff on recruiting, admissions, amateurism, financial aid, eligibility, visits, camps, and clinics.
• Coordinate initial, continuing, and transfer eligibility certification with the NCAA/NAIA Eligibility Center and campus departments.
• Oversee athletic scholarship allocation, National Letter of Intent processes, and compliant financial aid packages.
• Investigate concerns, complaints, and potential rule violations while maintaining internal controls and required documentation.
• Deliver compliance education and collaborate with athletics, admissions, financial aid, registrar, legal, human resources, and university leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and nine years of related experience.
• At least five years of progressively responsible experience in NCAA athletics compliance.
• Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA Division II legislation, NAIA rules, and NCAA rule interpretation.
• Experience with NCAA compliance software and reporting systems, with strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• State of Texas or Arkansas Class C vehicle operator’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment; an acceptable driving record is required.
• FERPA and HIPAA training is required when handling protected health information; all positions are security-sensitive and subject to a criminal history investigation.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree and experience at an NCAA Division II institution or during NCAA membership transition or provisional membership.
• Knowledge of Lone Star Conference policies and experience developing compliance education programs.
• Supervisory experience and leadership experience in collegiate athletics administration.
• Experience with Teamworks, Banner, NCAA LSDBi, Compliance Assistant, ARMS, or Teamworks Hub.
• CPR or Bloodborne Pathogens certification or training.
