Location: College Station, Texas, United States; security-sensitive role restricted to U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents

What you will do

  • Lead commercialization strategy and portfolio growth for physical sciences and engineering technologies.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a specialized team of licensing professionals.
  • Design and improve workflows covering disclosure triage, assessment, IP strategy, marketing, negotiation, and post-deal portfolio management.
  • Coordinate with business development, new ventures, marketing, operations, accounting, legal, faculty, researchers, and external partners.
  • Develop relationships with industry partners, investors, entrepreneurs, founders, and external experts.
  • Track commercialization performance, licensing activity, patent activity, cycle times, inventor satisfaction, and engagement metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physical sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in university technology transfer, corporate licensing, venture-backed deep-technology commercialization, or related innovation leadership.
  • Experience leading people, building teams, and improving processes in a metrics-driven environment.
  • Strong knowledge of intellectual property, patents, licensing, startup pathways, sponsored research interfaces, and industry partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; employment is contingent on a criminal history investigation and credential verification.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a large, distributed university or research system.
  • Commercialization experience in semiconductors, advanced materials, energy, manufacturing, photonics, defense, transportation, or digital engineering.
  • Experience with portfolio management platforms, CRM systems, workflow tracking, or commercialization operations tools.
  • Experience engaging industry, investors, founders, and external advisors in licensing and startup development.
