Claims Examiner - Commercial GL (Healthcare)

Location: Dallas, Texas; U.S. work authorization required. Hybrid and remote work options are indicated. Occasional domestic travel may be required for meetings, mediations, and trials.

What you will do

• Handle and resolve complex primary and excess commercial healthcare liability claims across the U.S.
• Evaluate coverage, liability, damages, reserves, settlement issues, and overall claim exposure in line with established authority.
• Maintain direct contact with insureds, agents, brokers, external customers, and third-party administrators.
• Select, instruct, and manage external vendors while controlling allocated loss adjustment expenses.
• Manage litigation in accordance with panel counsel and litigation management guidelines, including substantial involvement in mediation negotiations.
• Prepare required reports, monitor claim trends with underwriting, and maintain accurate pending caseloads.

Requirements

• College degree or equivalent experience.
• Claims adjuster license in the home state and authorization to work for any employer in the U.S. are required; multi-state licensure is preferred.
• At least three years of claims adjusting or legal experience, including experience with primary and excess claims.
• Knowledge of U.S. state and federal laws, policy language and coverage applicable to specialty healthcare claims, and medical terminology.
• Strong negotiation, communication, writing, organization, problem-solving, and independent working skills.
• Ability to manage a pending caseload, additional projects, deadlines, and required travel.

Nice to have

• Experience with U.S. healthcare professional liability or general liability.
• Experience handling reinsurance claims.
• Previous employment as a healthcare professional or medical malpractice attorney.
• Multi-state claims adjuster licensure.
