Staff Frontend Engineer (Angular)

Location: Redwood Shores, California, United States; hybrid with onsite work three days per week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Candidates must already be based in the Bay Area. Frontend team hours overlap with headquarters until approximately 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

Zūm develops a Connected Mobility Experience system that coordinates people, vehicles, and operations in real time for the student mobility market.

What you will do

• Own frontend technical decisions and architecture across the Angular codebase, including state management and reactive UI patterns.
• Lead the Ukraine-based frontend team technically, unblock complex problems, mentor engineers, and raise engineering quality.
• Build and ship reliable, data-dense portals for dispatch, schools, vendors, and maps.
• Partner with product managers and backend engineers to turn product direction into production frontend systems.
• Lead infrastructure-level frontend work and consolidate technical decision-making under one owner.
• Identify and implement AI tooling and automation that can accelerate frontend development.

Requirements

• Senior-plus or Staff-level frontend engineering experience with a track record of technical leadership.
• Strong hands-on Angular experience.
• Experience with reactive UI patterns and RxJS or equivalent observable-based architecture.
• Experience building enterprise, data-dense web applications.
• Experience technically leading or mentoring engineers, preferably in a distributed team.
• Must already be based in the Bay Area and work onsite at headquarters three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience consolidating a technical lead function previously shared across multiple people.
• Startup background.
• Mobile web experience, excluding native mobile and React Native.
• Mobility, logistics, fleet, mapping, GPS, or operationally complex enterprise software experience.
• Experience collaborating in Figma-based design workflows.
