Internship, Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul Engineering (Fall 2026) (eVTOL Aircraft): Supporting aircraft repair procedures, service documentation, component teardown, failure analysis, and scalable MRO process development with an accent on structural, mechanical, electrical, composite, and battery systems. Focus on evaluating returned hardware, creating inspection and repair instructions, documenting engineering changes, and aligning processes with the future FAA Part 145 pathway.
Location: On-site in Palo Alto, California, United States. Applicants must be eligible for employment in the United States and willing to work at the headquarters office.

Product manufacturer developing and producing light electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for consumer, public service, and defense applications.
What you will do
- Support repair procedure development for structural, mechanical, electrical, and battery aircraft systems.
- Author service procedures and repair documentation aligned with ATA iSpec 2200.
- Participate in teardown, inspection, evaluation, and repairability assessment of returned components and assemblies.
- Support root cause investigations, failure analysis, battery and BMS handling evaluations, and process development.
- Create work instructions, inspection criteria, engineering change documentation, and repair data records.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Flight Operations on scalable MRO processes aligned with the future FAA Part 145 pathway.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering at an accredited institution.
- Academic or project experience with structural, mechanical, or electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and able to work on-site in Palo Alto, California.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with aircraft, electric vehicles, robotics, motorsports, fabrication, mechanical assembly, or shop work.
- Exposure to composites, high-voltage systems, or failure analysis.
- Familiarity with FAA Part 43, FAA Part 145, airworthiness standards, PLM, MRP, or CAD tools such as 3DX.
- Interest in a long-term career in aerospace sustainment or repair engineering.
