Senior Mechanical Engineer (Marine Electrification)

Location: Torrance, California; full-time, on-site at the Los Angeles headquarters. Occasional travel of approximately 15% is required for testing, validation, suppliers, and field operations.

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 annually, plus equity grants and semi-annual bonuses.

What you will do

• Own the design and integration of complex electromechanical systems from early concept and requirements through production.
• Define requirements and specifications, create CAD designs, build prototypes, perform analysis, and support validation and production.
• Work across mechanical, electrical, thermal, and manufacturing domains to integrate assemblies, subsystems, and components.
• Design for manufacturability, serviceability, reliability, and real-world operating conditions.
• Build, test, troubleshoot, and iterate on hardware in prototype and production environments.
• Support sea trials and field validation while coordinating suppliers, shipyards, manufacturing partners, vessel operators, and internal teams.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience owning complete mechanical or electromechanical systems from initial design through production.
• Strong structural and thermal engineering fundamentals, with functional knowledge of electrical systems, high-voltage batteries, and power electronics.
• Experience designing large assemblies or complex multidisciplinary systems.
• Experience with CAD tools such as NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks and analysis tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or FEA packages.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing methods, design for manufacturability, and hands-on hardware debugging and troubleshooting.
• Comfort working hands-on in the field, including on boats and at shipyards, with clear communication, prioritization, and decision-making skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with commercial vessels or marine systems and familiarity with Coast Guard and ABS regulations.
• Experience with sheet metal manufacturing, CNC machining, composites, shop tools, or fluid system design.
• Experience creating detailed engineering drawings with strong GD&T fundamentals.
• Enthusiasm for boating, marine systems, and the water.
