Reaction Wheel Systems Engineer (Space Systems)

What you will do

• Take technical ownership of in-house reaction wheel development from concept through qualification and in-orbit commissioning.
• Define system architecture, conduct trade-off studies, manage requirements, and select components such as electric motors and bearings.
• Perform microvibration analysis and implement mitigation strategies while building these capabilities in-house.
• Define verification methods, test criteria, and acceptance criteria with integration and test teams.
• Lead technical reviews, define technical budgets, and create engineering documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Proven expertise in actuation systems and mechatronic design for precision or space applications.
• Hands-on experience with reaction wheels, electric motors, or similar actuators.
• Strong understanding of control systems, mechanical dynamics, and electronics integration.
• Ability to own complex technical topics and coordinate work across multiple engineering disciplines.

Nice to have

• Experience with simulation tools such as Matlab/Simulink.
• Experience with microvibration analysis and mitigation.
