Certified Medical Assistant (Nephrology)

Location: Tufts Medical Center, Boston, United States; onsite role

Pay range: $21.53–$26.91 per hour

What you will do

• Coordinate patient flow in the outpatient setting and communicate delays to patients and providers.
• Prepare patients, exam rooms, and medical records for provider visits across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
• Record vital signs, pain levels, medication information, and other patient data.
• Assist providers and nursing staff with examinations, treatments, procedures, immunizations, and specimen collection.
• Perform point-of-care testing, equipment quality checks, supply management, and clinical quality-improvement activities.
• Support referrals, prior authorizations, diagnostic and surgical scheduling, billing documentation, electronic medical records, and administrative communication.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant national certification attestation from AAMA, AMCA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA.
• Basic Life Support certification, or ability to obtain it within three months.
• Less than two years of Medical Assistant experience is required; the role requires basic vocational or technical knowledge.
• Ability to read, write, and document accurately in English.
• Knowledge of EPIC, electronic medical records, universal precautions, patient handling, HIPAA, and patient safety practices.

Nice to have

• Two years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Bilingual communication skills.
• Experience with electronic medical record systems.
