Senior Data Engineer (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA. Employees must be available to work onsite at a client location or hirify.global office as requested; remote work is possible when compatible with client and company needs. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Salary: $90,000–$200,000 per year.

What you will do

• Advise clients on data engineering best practices, methodologies, and technologies.
• Design, implement, and maintain modern data pipelines using appropriate cloud technologies.
• Build and operate highly available distributed systems for data extraction, ingestion, and processing.
• Partner with product owners and business subject-matter experts to translate requirements into sustainable engineering solutions.
• Provide technical leadership, collaborate across teams, and mentor data engineers.
• Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and communicate recommendations to stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience delivering cloud-based data engineering solutions.
• Experience with at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP and with highly available distributed data systems.
• Advanced proficiency with at least one ETL or data orchestration technology, such as Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Informatica, Alteryx, Ab Initio, Pentaho, Talend, or Matillion.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses or data lakes, such as Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks, and 5+ years with SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Expertise in SQL, database design, data structures, and schema design, plus 5+ years with a programming language such as Python, Java, R, C#, C++, or Shell.
• Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, CI/CD, Jira, big data, open-source technologies, and data streaming concepts.
