TL;DR
Waste Water Treatment Technician (PCB Manufacturing): Operating and monitoring wastewater treatment, RO/DI water, ion exchange, filtration, scrubber, and recycling systems in a PCB manufacturing environment with an accent on chemical handling, environmental controls, and hazardous waste compliance. Focus on performing batch treatment, laboratory monitoring, equipment calibration, waste documentation, and responding to abnormal operating conditions during the midnight shift.

Location: Toronto, Canada; onsite midnight shift from 11:00 PM to 7:15 AM, Wednesday through Sunday

Annual compensation: CAD 52,532–67,783

What you will do

  • Operate and monitor RO/DI water systems, wastewater treatment ion exchange systems, batch treatment systems, filter presses, scrubbers, and related environmental control equipment.
  • Use handheld monitoring equipment and perform cleaning and calibration of pH and ORP probes.
  • Manage chemical inventories, regenerate ion exchange systems, perform metal precipitation, and operate precious-metals resin recovery processes.
  • Handle hazardous waste and recyclable materials, including filter-press cake transfer, waste labeling, shipping documentation, and TDG-compliant shipments.
  • Maintain environmental records, audit recycling areas, report EHSS non-conformances, and support spill response and emergency operations.
  • Assist with materials movement, security compliance checks, battery replacement, PPE compliance, and training of new EHSS operators.

Requirements

  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residence in Canada is required due to Controlled Goods Program requirements.
  • English communication skills are required for reading, writing, and verbal communication.
  • Some college education with a basic chemistry focus or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to handle chemicals and hazardous waste, perform laboratory analysis, lift 50 lb (23 kg), climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in all seasons.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, plus the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to drive a forklift or obtain certification within 90 days.

Nice to have

  • At least one year of environmental or safety experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Previous water or wastewater treatment experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
