What you will do

  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert and lifecycle planner for HVAC systems at NASA Ames Research Center.
  • Develop 5-to-10-year HVAC infrastructure master plans, modernization strategies, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Verify compliance with ASHRAE Standards, California Title 24 or applicable energy codes, EPA Section 608 regulations, and OSHA standards.
  • Define equipment replacement and emergency repair requirements, review designs and engineering drawings, and assess replacement RFIs and quotes.
  • Lead root-cause analyses for major equipment failures and implement mitigation and maintenance strategies.
  • Coordinate project tasks, deliverables, schedules, and performance with government representatives, project managers, technical staff, contractors, and partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a relevant technical field with 5–10 years of commercial or industrial HVAC experience; alternatively, 12+ years of specialized hands-on experience.
  • Working knowledge of ASHRAE Standards 62.1 and 90.1, California Title 24 or applicable state/federal energy codes, EPA Section 608 refrigerant management regulations, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Ability to adapt to deadlines, changing schedules, competing priorities, and unpredictable events.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, time management, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present data and recommendations to project managers, engineers, technical staff, and contractors.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Nice to have

  • Experience with NASA, federal, state, or local government facilities and large-scale infrastructure.
  • Experience with federal and California facilities infrastructure or aerospace facilities and infrastructure.
  • Exceptional customer relationship management skills.
