HVAC Design Engineer (Mechanical Engineering)

What you will do

• Design HVAC and mechanical utility systems, including airside, chilled water, heating hot water, steam, natural gas, compressed air, and related systems.
• Perform envelope, load, pressure drop, energy, and other engineering calculations.
• Size mechanical equipment, ductwork, and piping, and develop system schematics, plans, P&IDs, schedules, and installation details.
• Prepare design and construction drawing packages, specifications, reports, and code evaluations for projects of basic complexity.
• Coordinate designs with clients, manufacturers, vendors, construction trade partners, and other disciplines.
• Support construction through RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, and progress reports while mentoring junior designers.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical focus.
• At least 3 years of experience and completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• Basic experience designing and implementing HVAC, mechanical utility, piping, and plumbing systems.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire, and building codes, as well as relevant industry standards.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams, vendors, manufacturers, and construction trade partners.

Nice to have

• LEED, WELL, or another sustainable design accreditation, or experience with sustainable design.
• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory, or food and beverage projects.
• Experience with Enscape, Unifi, Dynamo, Grasshopper, or Rhino within Revit.
• Experience conducting field surveys and preparing field reports.
