Research Associate (Ecological Research)

Location: Kingsville, Texas; work based in Nacogdoches, Texas, with travel to field and remote locations.

What you will do

• Design, coordinate, and conduct experiments, including species evaluations and planting trials.
• Maintain research records and analyze experimental data using statistical and specialized computer software.
• Install and maintain field research projects and operate agricultural, research, and farm equipment.
• Support native seed production, greenhouse operations, and vegetation data collection in outdoor and remote environments.
• Prepare research proposals, grant documentation, technical reports, and publication materials.
• Supervise and train undergraduate and graduate students, laboratory staff, field staff, and technical personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least two years of related experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of laboratory and field research techniques, data analysis, and statistical software.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions, handle objects with assistance, and travel independently to remote locations.
• Export-control authorization is required before employment begins.

Nice to have

• Experience in ecological or agricultural research.
• Experience with native seed production or greenhouse operations.
• Experience supervising students or staff.
• Experience writing grant proposals.
