What you will do
- Provide technical expertise, guidance, and management support for the Eglin Air Force Base Natural Resources Office Erosion Control program.
- Monitor wetlands, floodplains, riparian areas, watersheds, erosion control projects, listed species, and aquatic habitats.
- Implement wetland mitigation, ecosystem restoration, and soil conservation practices to reduce upland erosion impacts.
- Collect and analyze data on natural resources, environmental conditions, trends, and status to guide management activities.
- Manage spatial databases using ESRI/ArcGIS and support project planning, development, and implementation.
- Prepare Air Force environmental documentation, coordinate design reviews, and provide watershed permit oversight.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, forestry, ecology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least two years of related experience.
- Proficiency with ESRI/ArcGIS mapping software and common word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Knowledge of research directing eligibility listing and Section 404 requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, create databases, perform statistical analyses, and present data.
- Ability to obtain a valid US driver’s license and pass a criminal background check. Ability to work outdoors for long hours, lift and carry heavy loads, and occasionally work irregular hours.
