Diesel Field Service Engineer (Generators)

Location: Gloucester, United Kingdom; predominantly fixed customer sites

Salary: Competitive hourly rates dependent on experience, with overtime and a realistic annual OTE of £55,000–£65,000. Additional 10–15% base-pay uplift may apply depending on postcode.

What you will do

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on standby power generation equipment.
• Diagnose faults and complete breakdown repairs to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
• Support critical power infrastructure and emergency backup systems at data centre customer sites.
• Build effective working relationships with customers, site teams, Coordinators, and Service Managers.
• Record completed work accurately in the bespoke management system.
• Participate in the site or regional on-call rota, approximately one week in six, while following health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

Requirements

• Time-served Mechanical/Electrical Engineer or NVQ Level 3 qualification, or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including engines and alternators.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to complete risk assessments and work safely in high-compliance environments.
• Excellent communication skills for working with customers, site teams, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments where reliability and attention to detail are critical.

Nice to have

• Experience working with generators, critical power systems, or similar equipment.
• Experience in data centres, critical environments, facilities management, or industrial settings.
