Diesel Field Service Engineer - DC (Generators)

Location: Gloucester, United Kingdom; predominantly fixed customer sites

Salary: Competitive hourly rates dependent on experience, with a realistic annual OTE of £55,000–£65,000. Overtime is available after 40 hours, plus a 10–15% postcode-dependent uplift and an on-call standby allowance.

What you will do

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on standby power generation equipment in data centre environments.
• Diagnose faults and complete breakdown repairs to maintain equipment reliability and uptime.
• Support critical power infrastructure and emergency backup systems at fixed customer sites.
• Build professional working relationships with customers and site teams.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules and reactive work with Coordinators and Service Managers.
• Record completed work in the company management system and participate in an approximately 1-in-6 on-call rota.

Requirements

• Time-served Mechanical/Electrical Engineer or NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including engines and alternators.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to complete risk assessments and work safely in high-compliance environments.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with customers, site teams, and internal stakeholders.
• Experience with generators, critical power systems, data centres, facilities management, or industrial environments is advantageous.
