SME Underwriting Product Manager (Insurance)

Location: London, UK; hybrid arrangement with three days per week in the office and two days at home

What you will do

• Define, implement, and monitor underwriting appetite and rules for new and existing SME products.
• Develop and optimise Commercial Combined, Property Owners, and Office products for eTrade and Traditional channels.
• Configure trade sectors, conditions, rates, and rules in Acturis to support effective risk selection and straight-through processing.
• Manage portfolio profitability, growth, retention, quote-to-bind performance, and underwriting quality through data-led analysis.
• Underwrite and negotiate risks, handle referrals and mid-term adjustments, and identify opportunities for additional lines of business.
• Lead broker integration launches, underwriting reviews, broker relationships, coaching, and training initiatives.

Requirements

• Advanced experience in underwriting, product knowledge, financial analysis, or risk assessment.
• Expert knowledge of insurance products, the regulatory environment, and the local UK insurance market.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to make decisions within risk appetite.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for working with brokers and internal stakeholders.
• Experience coaching and mentoring people from different backgrounds and leading collaborative initiatives.
• UK A-Levels or a similar qualification.
