Software Developer in Test (SDET)

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington will not be considered. The role supports the Department of Veterans Affairs and requires U.S. citizenship.

What you will do

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, test scripts, schedules, and test approaches.
• Perform and lead manual, automated, functional, regression, integration, system, usability, and UAT testing.
• Build programming-driven testing solutions using languages such as C#, Java, or Python.
• Validate web applications, APIs, services, databases, and stored data.
• Document test results, metrics, defects, risks, and progress toward issue resolution.
• Collaborate with test managers, requirements leads, project managers, development leads, customers, and other organizations.

Requirements

• 10 or more years of total professional experience, including 10 or more years in software testing and quality assurance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python, plus experience with manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum, SDLC, test automation frameworks, CI/CD, version control, performance testing, defect tracking, SQL, and test management tools.
• U.S. citizenship is required; candidates must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) and meet government investigation requirements.
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, prioritization, mentoring, and problem-solving abilities.

Nice to have

• ISTQB, CSTE, CSQA, or other advanced testing or quality assurance certification.
• Experience with EDI X.12 and medical claims formats such as 837, 834, and 277.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, JMeter, Gatling, Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, or LoadRunner.
