Manager - Projects Unit (Energy)

Location: Rochester, New York, United States; on-site in the office

Salary: $128,320–$160,400 per year

What you will do

• Lead project managers, engineers, construction management professionals, and other cross-functional team members.
• Manage transmission, substation, and distribution capital projects against budgets, schedules, scope, quality standards, and engineering requirements.
• Coordinate portfolio dependencies, monitor progress, and apply corrective actions to manage risks and changes.
• Oversee project controls, cost and schedule reporting, governance, procurement strategies, and executive briefings.
• Manage contractors and suppliers, support contract negotiations, and ensure accountability for delivery.
• Represent the company in regulatory, public, permitting, and compliance activities, including FERC and NERC requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related energy-industry field and 7 years of relevant project management experience, including 3 years managing complex strategic or regulatory initiatives.
• Experience managing large high-voltage transmission and substation capital programs exceeding $100 million, including multi-site projects and facility upgrades.
• Experience with distribution substation project execution, regulatory filings and approvals, siting permits, and project monitoring and control tools.
• Expertise in risk management, mitigation planning, budgeting, scheduling, and MS Excel data analysis.
• Experience managing large technical teams, contractors, suppliers, and contract negotiations.
• Project Management Professional certification and strong communication, presentation, leadership, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Engineering degree, MBA, or background in electrical or civil engineering.
• Experience with SAP financial systems and Microsoft Project.
• Experience driving compliance, standardization, process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.
