Salary: $26.87–$33.59 per hour

What you will do

  • Prepare patients for physician evaluations by collecting medical, ocular, medication, allergy, and visit histories.
  • Perform vision screenings and ophthalmic measurements, including visual acuity, lensometry, refraction, keratometry, pupil evaluation, tonometry, and eye-drop instillation.
  • Conduct and assist with ocular imaging and diagnostic tests such as OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, topography, IOL Master, A-scan, B-scan, UBM, ERG, and VEP testing.
  • Assist with contact lens removal and reinsertion, consent forms, and in-office procedures.
  • Prepare examination rooms, clean and disinfect instruments, and assist with equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Document examination components in the electronic health record, support clinic flow and triage, participate in clinical trials, and train new technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or Certified Retinal Angiographer certification.
  • Basic Life Support certification, or ability to obtain it within three months of hire.
  • Two years of experience as an ophthalmic technician.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, eye anatomy and physiology, and experience with computers, Microsoft Office, and scheduling software.
  • Ability to work onsite with patients in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment, including prolonged standing, walking, and physical assistance for patients.

Nice to have

  • Optical Coherence Tomographer certification.
  • Bilingual communication skills.
