TL;DR
Safety Loss Control Consultant (Property Safety): Conducting risk assessments, loss prevention consultations, and safety improvement programs for industrial, commercial, and institutional customers with an accent on property protection, workersβ compensation, general liability, and automobile losses. Focus on analyzing loss trends, preparing COPE reports, applying NFPA and FM Global standards, and designing fire protection and insurer risk improvement solutions.
Location: Remote - USA; national travel outside the region is required for 30β50% of the role.

What you will do
- Conduct safety and property loss control assessments at manufacturing, healthcare, education, real estate, retail, and process-industry facilities.
- Recommend and improve safety, loss prevention, workersβ compensation, general liability, and automobile loss control programs.
- Review large losses and loss trends with claims and analytics teams, then develop customer service plans to mitigate future losses.
- Coordinate customer, broker, and insurer visits, recommendations, property inspections, and risk improvement responses.
- Prepare COPE reports, review project plans, and provide property protection guidance based on NFPA and FM Global standards.
- Create technical content and deliver webinars, training courses, and seminars on safety topics and regulatory changes.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in engineering and approximately 7 years of insurance industry experience desired.
- Experience with all-risk property loss control, industrial property field surveys, loss control consultations, and strong analytical work.
- Proficiency in automatic sprinkler system hydraulic calculations and fire protection water supply analysis.
- Working knowledge of NFPA, FM Global, OSHA, DOT, and ANSI standards, construction projects, and builderβs risk.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, time management, computer, decision-making, and customer service skills.
- Ability to travel nationally outside the region for 30β50% of the role.
Nice to have
- Highly Protected Risk experience or an FM Global engineering background.
- Professional Engineer, Certified Fire Protection Specialist, CSP, ARM, or another insurance-related designation.
