Principal Cloud Engineering and Production Operations Engineer

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California, United States

Targeted compensation: $140,000–$185,000 per year

What you will do

• Architect, implement, and maintain hybrid and cloud-native infrastructure for production workloads, enterprise systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead infrastructure-as-code adoption and design scalable, fault-tolerant solutions across OCI, AWS, Azure, and on-premises data centers.
• Own production reliability, observability, uptime, performance, incident response, root cause analysis, and service improvement.
• Build secure CI/CD pipelines, self-healing infrastructure, automated rollbacks, and configuration orchestration.
• Establish operational standards for monitoring, patching, change management, production readiness, security, and compliance.
• Lead architectural reviews and capacity planning while mentoring cloud and infrastructure engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of cloud and infrastructure engineering experience, including 3+ years in a senior or principal role.
• Expertise with OCI, AWS, and/or Azure, including networking, compute, storage, and identity management.
• Experience managing production-scale environments for mission-critical applications and services.
• Strong proficiency with Terraform or CloudFormation, Jenkins, GitLab, ArgoCD, Kubernetes, Docker, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK, Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
• Strong understanding of hybrid-environment security, compliance, networking, analytical problem-solving, and incident management.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-availability SaaS or networking environments.
• Knowledge of FinOps, cost optimization, and multi-cloud governance.
• Familiarity with Zero Trust, identity federation, and cloud access security models.
• Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure or data-driven pipelines.
• Master’s degree in a related field.
